The Teal Pumpkin Project

Healthy Halloween candies

Well, my dear followers, October is finally here, and we all know what that means.. it’s candy time!

I remember last year when one of my friends told me she spent $300 bucks on Halloween candies at Costco, and I was like WHAT? You spent how much? And let’s not forget all of those mom’s who their kids have many allergies, and they have to check the whole bag making sure they are safe for their kids.

I don’t want to be that mom that doesn’t let their kids eat candies, they do eat candies once in a while, Halloween is one of those days but to be honest? They don’t even know the difference between a good candy and a bad one, that’s why I decided that this year, I want to have in my house smart options for them. YES, my kids are going to eat their sugar this year, but why not to choose a better/safer option for everyone?

This year we are choosing to join the teal pumpkin project and give Freeyumm as treats! If you haven’t heard about them, this local company make these delicious bars and cookies with natural ingredients, no artificial fillers, and not unprocessed sweeteners. They are all made in a dedicated bakery where the top nine priority allergens are never allowed.

Some of the ingredients you’ll find are: Gluten-free oats, Organic non-GMO coconut palm sugar, Maple Syrup, Organic Honey, Sunflower oil, Ground Flaxseed, Sunflower Seeds, Organic Cocoa, Organic Pumpkin Seeds, Hemp Seeds, Ginger, Chia seeds and they make sure that their facility it’s free of the biggest allergens (Milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, etc.) making these products the perfect choice for our little ones.

If you want to join me supporting the teal pumpkin project, the steps to participate are the following:

*Provide non-food treats for trick-or-treaters.

*Place a teal pumpkin (the colour of food allergy awareness) in front of your home to indicate you have non-food treats available.

*Add your home to the teal pumpkin project map.

*Spread the word! Share the teal pumpkin project with your friends and family.
